Your Consultation Is More Than One Appointment

Your $199 comprehensive new patient consultation includes two virtual visits.

VISIT ONE

Tell Me What's Been Going On

We'll take time to review your symptoms, medical history, medications, risk factors, concerns, and goals.

When appropriate, laboratory testing, imaging, or preventive screening may be ordered to help complete the picture.

BETWEEN VISITS

Your Information Is Reviewed

Your history, available results, risk factors, and concerns are organized - so we can focus on what matters most during your follow-up.

VISIT TWO

Leave With a Plan

We'll review your findings together and discuss your personalized next steps.

You'll also receive your written Health Report Card and Health Roadmap - so you have a clear record of what we discussed and where your care goes next.

MetabolicTreatment Isn't

One-Size-Fits-All

There isn't one treatment plan that's right for everyone.

Your options depend on your medical history, laboratory findings, medications, previous treatment experiences, preferences, risks, and goals.

Your personalized plan may include discussion of:

Nutrition & Lifestyle Strategy

Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and daily habits can all affect metabolic health.

The goal isn't a generic diet plan. It's identifying realistic changes that make sense for your health, lifestyle, and goals.

Prescription Treatment Options

Prescription medications may be considered when clinically appropriate based on your medical history, diagnoses, previous treatments, risks, and goals.

Weight Management

When weight is part of the concern, we'll look beyond the number on the scale.

Weight history, medications, metabolic conditions, sleep, appetite, activity, laboratory findings, and other contributing factors may all be considered.

Blood Sugar & Insulin Resistance

Elevated glucose, insulin resistance, prediabetes, and diabetes deserve more than simply watching the numbers.

We'll look at your results, risk factors, medications, lifestyle, and overall metabolic picture.

Cholesterol & Cardiovascular Risk

Cholesterol is only one part of cardiovascular risk.

Depending on your history, your evaluation may also consider blood pressure, blood sugar, family history, smoking history, weight, kidney health, and other risk factors.

Thyroid & Other Contributors

Symptoms such as fatigue, weight changes, constipation, temperature intolerance, or changes in energy can have many possible causes.

When appropriate, thyroid function and other potential contributors may be evaluated as part of the broader picture.

Your visits are real conversations.

There is time to ask questions, discuss concerns, understand your options, and participate in decisions about your care.

The goal isn't to rush you through a checklist.

It's to understand what's changing, what matters to you, and what an appropriate path forward looks like.

Common Questions

Do I Have to Be Diagnosed With Diabetes to Schedule?

No.

Metabolic care may be appropriate for adults concerned about weight changes, insulin resistance, prediabetes, elevated blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, thyroid concerns, or other metabolic risk factors.

Is This Just a Weight-Loss Program?

No.

Weight can be one part of metabolic health, but your evaluation looks at the larger picture including medical history, medications, laboratory results, blood sugar, cardiovascular risk factors, thyroid health, lifestyle, and your individual goals.

Will I Automatically Receive a Weight-Loss Medication?

No.

Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee that any particular medication will be prescribed.

Medication decisions are made only after your medical history, current medications, diagnoses, previous treatment, benefits, risks, and individual circumstances are reviewed.

Can Prescription Medications Be Discussed?

Yes.

Prescription treatment options may be discussed when clinically appropriate. Recommendations depend on your individual medical history, findings, risks, and treatment goals.

Do I Need Laboratory Testing Before My Appointment?

No.

Bring any recent results you already have. Additional laboratory testing may be ordered when clinically appropriate after your history and existing information are reviewed.

What If I've Tried to Lose Weight Before?

That's okay.

Previous diets, medications, weight-loss programs, successes, side effects, regain, and barriers are all useful information.

The purpose of the consultation is to understand your history rather than assume one approach should work for everyone.

Can I Use My Insurance?

The Root Care Family Health NP is a cash-pay practice.

Your insurance may still be used for covered prescriptions, laboratory testing, and imaging.

Superbills are available for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Will I Actually Meet With a Clinician?

Yes.

Your initial consultation includes two virtual visits with Tara, a New York-licensed, ANCC board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
